Could have been the worst car deal ever..!

I sold my integra yesterday. Actually, it was sold a few days before that but this is how we had to do the transaction because of time and the bank. The buyer lived about an hour away, and the bank would not give him the check until they had possession of the title. That's fine, so being a nice guy I get a ride to follow me and take me back home after he has possession of the car.

Not 5 minutes away from my house, I am sitting at a red light. Now mind you, this car is almost five years old, and looks brand new in and out. I baby it, to say the least. I also have never ever had a bad incident with it. Funny how that changes the day it is being sold.

So while I am waiting at this light, some sort of debris comes flying over from the oncoming lane. It slams into my door, and is the most godawful sound ever. I roll my window down, and about die. Three dents, and a chunk of paint missing down to the metal.

This can't be good. I mean, how would you feel if you were buying this car? I'd probably not want to buy it.

So we get to the bank, and I tell him to come outside to see something that isn't good. He was pretty amazed too, I mean the story sounds too wierd to be true. Fortunately, we knocked 250 off of the price because he said he had someone who could take care of it for not a lot of money. I felt so bad for the buyer, but there was nothing I could do. I can't help an act of God, you know?

Has anyone ever had something similar happen to them? LOL.

oh yeah, to make matters worse, i was driving safe, when I could have easily made it through the previous light, but I was in paranoid mode :grrr

After going through the trouble of the bank, I'd still buy it too.

If it was just the door like you said, that can be fixed without too much hassle. You were honest and quick to show him what happened and a price was negotiated so I guess you both did alright. Unfortunate that it happened but the result was probably as good as it could have been for both parties.

A buddy of mine and I spent a couple of days detailing his wife's car. The next day a guy ran a red light and totaled it. It did help that it looked good for the insurance payout (it was an older car).
