now reading here a while i go i rememeber there was a member who was into cop cars. my main question is whats done to a gov. crown victoria thats diff performance wise to a base crown vic.

other than the strobes and lettering wha really is done under the hood?
 
The Ford Crown Victorias with the Interceptor Package have the 4.6L overhead cam V8. It has a 4 spd. automatic transmission. The horsepower rating is 235 HP and has 285 ft. lbs. of torque @ 3,000 RPM's. 0-60 MPH is 8.75 seconds. 1/4 mile time is 16.93@83.25 MPH. Top speed is 139 MPH. Vehicle weight is 4,039 lbs (approx).

It may not be terribly fast, but I have not yet seen a vehicle that can outrun a radio.
 
All they have under the hood are silcone hoses, high amp alternator, and I think a bigger radiator and tranny cooler. They also have bigger front brakes, a larger sway bar, maybe stiffer springs and dual exhaust. Other than that it's just a plain old CV.

If by "plain old CV", you mean that its equivelant to the top model (LX Sport), then you are correct.
 
Some of the local sheriffs in Orange County rock supercharged versions of the basic Crown Vic.
 
Its nice to know those are different. I detail an old 5.0 Mustang cop car for shows every now and then and as far as I can tell it is bone stock compared to other 5.0s I've done. I was sort of disappointed that it wasn't some built up supercar version of a Mustang. Other than all the flashers and radios and light bar and everything it was just a normal Mustang.
 
I thought they were tuned higher and in some cases beefed up. Otherwise, there should never ever be any crown victorias on the road!
 
despite it looks like and old person car and is a humgous piece of boring metal! ive always had a thing for them. they look soo serious and discreet and always give off the signal to slow down and becareful. i dont know, i like the whole appearance of it as a cop car and even as an undercover car. maybe its some way of telling me that inside i wanna be a cop, i dunt know.

am i the onyl person who acknowledges cars as being sexy, beautiful, cute, meanlooking, ect!

if i am, then i dont either :bye
