Getting ready to clean and protect a convertible top.

I have been using Mr Rag top cleaning and protectant for cloth tops.

Any tips on getting the best protection. I wash with the cleaner and brush. Hose off until the water runs clear. Blow off excess water with master blaster- wait 1-2 days until dry. It’s I a garage. Then I lint roll it and apply first coat of protectant. I wipe first coat into top with a gloved hand. Then I apply 2nd coat one hour later and let it air dry.

I did this process 2-4 weeks ago this past weekend the top got soaked in the road and did not bead.

Any process suggestions or products that are easier to apply or last better?

thanks

I have used the Ragg Top Cleaner and Protectant for years on dozens of Convertibles in the Pacific Northwest...

My process was to wet the whole car, get the cleaner on, and scrub carefully with a semi-soft plastic bristle brush, twice...

I then rinsed it really well, and took my Extractor, and clean water only and keyed the water and extracted every square inch of the top..

Finished the vehicle wash, and blew it all off the top carefully, and got it really dry..

I finished the paint correction part, etc., and last, tape off with paper, the entire area under the top, and sprayed a few coats of the Protectant over it, letting it dry between coats...

Worked great...

Had a Client call me and told me his Mini Convertible was shipped 3,000 miles to Florida from the West Coast, and the whole time, the car above it, dripped oil onto his convertible top, that I had just Detailed with these 2 products...
Wanted to know what to do...
Told him to get the hose and rinse the oil off the top and see what happens..
He said it All came off and the top looked great..
