Consumer Reports 2011 Top Picks

The Fusion Hybrid is probably one of the best options out there when it comes to fuel economy, reliability and budget. A family can own two Fusion Hybrid's for about the same price of one Volt.

I think what's killing the Volt is true cost of ownership and its limitations.

Now I know some of you probably hate Ford Motors, so I'm putting on my Chrome Dome.:(

I really like the Fusion in general. Good performance & good looks. but Kia just came out with the Optima and I think the looks are killer.

I think the Volt is a great vehicle and I really like the concept but even after govt. rebates, it's still more expensive than I'm comfortable with. Also, according to Motorweek, GM's claim that the Volt only runs on electricity and uses the gas engine only to charge the batteries when needed was untrue. GM admitted that the gas engine does kick in to help the electric motor when going faster than 65 mph. I found that little omission on GM's part really annoying.

But MotorWeek named the Volt "Best of the Year" for 2011.

I'm not saying it's a bad car. As a matter of fact, I think it's a great car and given the same price point, I would pick it over either the Prius or the Leaf (if I was in the market for a hybrid). I just think GM should have come clean on that little tidbit of information. It's kind of a big deal to the "green" crowd.

Cannot do a 4cyl; however, might change my mind if gas keeps climbing. I am glade I dumped off my 12mpg dodge hemi when gas prices were low last year.
