Considering this LED panel to replace my halogens

For that money you can buy 4 led lights and not move anything. Look up what Richard Lin uses.</blockquote>
Thanks. I was considering a 100W 120 degree single diode floodlight in each corner of the garage aiming toward the center for indirect lighting.

This thread has some good info regarding garage lighting and then at post #37 a good set up for task lighting that is very effective and inexpensive using photographic light stands and single diode LED floods from Lowes or HD--- http://www.autopiaforums.com/forums/show-off-your-garage/40239-finally-comprehensive-review-best-bulbs-out-there.html  Lighting that is 5000K seems to be best as it is much like noon day sun and the LEDs with a single diode show swirls very well.</blockquote>

Thanks for the advice, PWAUG. That thread came up during a google search on the subject a week or two ago. I didn't spend enough time going through it but I will give it a better effort tonight when I get home from work. I really like how portable that particular floodlight setup is!

Single LED diode bulbs + regular stand is amazing customizable, cost effective, and performs wonderfully. You just need to live with seeing too much.

I just assembled the setup from the autopiaforums article.  I noticed that Par 38 bulbs fit just fine in the fixture even though the other guy said they wouldn't.  I now have two 23W single diode 5000K floods on an adjustable and portable stand with wheels. Here are links to the products used.

Fixture

Stand

Optional Wheels

Total cost, about $170 plus some shipping.  Not bad at all.  The stand collapses down to 23 inches for great portability and the entire setup can be broken down in about 3 minutes.  I no longer have a big, hot, heavy halogen setup occupying an entire corner of my garage.  I have yet to use the new kit but I will report back after my next detail in two weeks.  Thanks all!

Patrick--I think you'll find your new set up shows swirls even sunshine misses.   Also, keep in mind this type of set up is top heavy especially when extended up to be able to work on roofs---I've added some weight to the legs for extra stability--I use small sand bags that are easy to remove once doing lower parts of the car.
