Confused between buffing vs polishing towel

Waxes and some other LSP's tend to be very difficult to remove with a towel that is "too" soft or plushy. I think it has something to do with the silicone. You end up with "smears" and traces amounts still left on the panel.

You need to towel that of course is soft and won't mar the paint but also with a texture to "grab" the wax, silicone and all. Leaving you with a clean panel.

I think that's why Terry Cloth or Diapers were the go to item in the day (some people still use em)

Polishes don't have that much silicone in them and are generally easier to remove.

That's my take on it.

Easy choice! Go with the buffing towels.

One side is essentially the same as the polishing towel and the other side is more of a plush/buffing towel. :)

Like MorBid said, some people prefer a towel with 2 different nap sizes. The less plush/low nap side will at times work better for polish or wax removal. A low nap towel has a better bite because there's less cushion when you remove the product. After removing whatever product, people will then use the more plush side to buff out the vehicle.

I like to use a medium nap towel that has the same plushness on both sides, but that's just me.
