condensation and dust in the morning :(

My back hurts...
I live one house in from a very busy road, on a bend. The asphalt on the bend was continually being fixed a few years ago because of the rain and the amount of traffic, so I guess the city decided it would be cheaper to just dump some dirt and gravel in the torn up spots every few weeks :realmad: needless to say it gets pretty dusty. Now before it started to cool down here this wasn't a big deal, a few swipes with the cal duster took care of the dust on my truck, but since it has cooled down, every vehicle on this corner is a dust magnet because of the condensation. Actually, I should say dirt magnet, because I washed the truck yesterday and today it looks like it hasn't been washed in 2 weeks

I first thought of S&W but there is more dust than I would feel comfortable with wiping off...Is there any type of LSP that destaticizes (I know that's not a word) the paint? I'm using NXT wash (it's supposed to have anti-static agents in it) and mother's cleaner wax at the moment.

TIA,
Steve

I can't reallly help you out with your problem. Your gonna get dust/dirt on your paint no matter what you put on it. Maybe you should invest in a truck cover if its getting that bad.

FWIW...Floyd Meguiar over at FK1 has a patent on anti-static compositions. They offer a sealant (#2180), detail spray (#425), and glass cleaner (#228) that claim anti-static properties.

I don't know how much that would help you though. If its raining dust, it will stick to the condensation. A cover or garage might be a good investment.

When S&W first came out, I was one of the skeptical ones that didn't try it for quite some time. I now use it by the gallons and that's just for my personal use.
It will handle some pretty dirty vehicles and might surprise you.

Just a suggestion:
Try it on one small section and see what happens. If it doesn't mar, do the rest. If it does mar, cuss at me, but remember you will only have to polish one small section.:)

Thanks everyone for the replies. A cover is a little expensive at the moment...definitely something for a future investment. But I guess it won't hurt to try the S&W. :)

By the way, do you use a WW or a standard MF?

Thanks again,
Steve

I use a plush terry MF. IMO, it will hold the dirt away from the paint a little better. If your vehicle is dirty enough to get the MF dirty quickly, I would use another MF. I usually only need one MF, but I have sometimes used two or three.
Be sure to let us know how it works out for you.
