Concern on Moose Wax bottle...>>

Not to raise any flags or red alerts as of yet..... but there may be an issue with the bottles Clearkoat is using. The bottle is Vinyl and not best used for petroleum distillates. My bottle of VM I've had now for about maybe 3 months, haven't had really any chance to use it much because of the NJ monsoons for the past year and all the rain and ruined weekends.

Anyhow, to my surprise, I grabbed the bottle and low and behold the bottle is severely degrading. There is an indefinate reaction btw the vinyl bottle and the product. The bottle is softening and bubbling in a few areas. Had to get a glass jar and salvage the product from the jar. Kinda weary on using the product now. It is discolored into a yellowy type polish.

The bottle really should be put into a PET (polyester) bottle as this stilll has the clarity needed for the product image, but also is very good btw petroleum disstilates and solvents.

Anyone else having issues with their bottles?? Oh yeah, after time vinyl bottles will crack.

I know there was an issue with Vanilla Moose where the essence of vanilla was warping and degrading the bottles, but I've never has a single problem with Moose Wax. I have one bottle that is 6-7 months old.

I'd contact the company about it just to be safe. I'm sure they'd give you a replacement for it if you told them what happened. I'd also recommend that you should send them your bottle if you still have it so they can see it and try and figure out for sure what the problem is. They're pretty good about replacing things like that. It's something they should be alerted about though, so even if you don't want a replacement, still let them know what's happening with the product and it's container.

I've had no problems with my bottles of Moose Wax reacting with the plastic. Vanilla Moose has been discovered to react in some cases, but the Moose Wax has no problems.

DOH!!! Aw hell, I screwed up guys, its VM. For some reason I went to typing and got the abbreviations screwy:nixweiss

It is VM which is warping the bottles. Depending on what was in that fragrance, oils or the such, I think it is more of the petroleum distillates. Either way, vinly may be a good choice for a bottle b/c its cheap, but in the long run it will crack and dry out. gotta give a call in and see what can be done.

A PET bottle should really be used. As you can tell I do this for a living :D

WS6-the problem is the vanilla fragrance. I have two bottles of VM that do not have the vanilla scent and neither bottle has warped at all. I also had a couple that did have the vanilla scent and while the bottles did noticably soften, I used them up fast enough so they didn't degrade too much. Moose Wax also has petroleum distillates, and I've not had one bottle do what the bottles of VM did.
