Synthetic benchmarks show difference from few to 10 percent, on average 5 percent, between two when looking only at the CPU. However, real world difference, when more than one component of the system is involved (CPU + memory + video card etc) might be only few percent. That difference is not worth $200 IMO.



Only thing that you might be missing is quality power supply. You wouldn't believe how many instability issues can be traced back to power supplies. I don't know how good are SeaSonic but I do know that PC Power & Cooling is the name that has reputation of being best.

For normal use you wont notice a thing, besides with that setup you could easily overclock that core2duo up to those speeds without any voltage changes.



Everything looks good man. And that seasonic is an EXCELLENT PSU. It will serve you fine PPC and cooling is over rated in my experience.

Runs alittle warm with stock cooler, but Im going to get a better heatsink along with ram and video card.
 
Paid in whole from 2 weeks of detailing after getting back from college. Man its nice to be back and I love my new rotary.
 
Seasonic is one of the quietest and most efficient PS around. You made a good choice.



CPU speed is now more of a marketing gimmick than anything else, pick a cpu that is good in price like at a stable price before the next series that has a signifciant cost increase. If you have noticed all the cpu manufacturers have stayed away from the MHZ number marking and gone to the performance rating scheme. CPU speed is almost nearing its max, but the marketing gurus need a speed increase every 3 months to sell the chips.
 
This review is a little out of date, but I couldn't find a much more recent comparison of power supplies, and as power supply technology doesn't really change that fast I think it still holds true. Stress Test: Power Supplies Under Full Load | Tom's Hardware



I hope you didn't spend too much more on the PC power and cooling PSU. Seasonic is right up there at the very top in terms of stability and how quiet those things are. Although I've been away from the computer scene for about a year now, so please correct me if things have indeed changed since then.



Taking a closer look though, once you get into that upper range of power supplies, I doubt it will matter at all. There are several companies putting out very nice products and I seriousely don't think you would be seeing any real world difference beyond price. My enermax is in that review and while its not the most efficient or it may have a higher ripple value, I've never had a problem with it even under the frequent power surges/outages we have here.



All in all, I hope you enjoy your computer man, it really is a nice setup. : )

My next build, I am going to go with PC Power and Cooling, Seasonic, or Tagan. I currently have an Antec TP II 550 and I am waiting for them to get back with me for a RMA on it (Floppy drive connector and wire melted). If I don't get a response from them, I might look at the 600 w Seasonic for my Opteron based system.
 
Spend your money on the following:



Power Supply - Seasonic, Antec Phantom Fanless

Motherboard - Intel, Abit, Asus, MSI, DFI, EPoX

Memory - Mushkin, Corsair, Crucial(Micron)



The rest are pretty much all the same and their marketing spin doctors saying they are faster performance wise ...blah ...blah ...blah
 
I love people who don't read the whole thread. I decided to go with the PC Power and Cooling because it was only a few more dollars then the Seasonic. I swiched Mobo because it has more features and better reviews. Im switching video cards from BFG to eVGA because the eVGA has a heatsink over the memory as well not just the chip
 
Lies, darn lies, and benchmarks. I could elaborate but unfortunately am pressed with lack of time. Bottom line on several things (but not all of them): Notice they (THG) don't mention how they got their samples, by purchasing or by calling vendor to provide sample, or mix of both. Now, if you were a vendor what you would send out after you receive such call, review unit that has been prepped or random off the shelf unit? Second, where is a statistical sample? They use one unit each to conclude which one is better. Blah. Tells nothing about average real world MTBF, degradation, etc. Third, we get to see outside of the boxes. Show us components on inside. That would tell a lot. THG test tells nothing valuable to me.
