Combination of Menzerna FP II, AIO, Megs #7 Glaze and then SOUveran??

Hey guys--

I dont post much, but i read this site everyday pretty much. And have been a detailing enthusiast for god knows how long...

Ive been looking to try some new products on my Lexo IS300....

She's black and for the time being, i have been doing 3m SMR, klasse SG and S100 or Pinnacle souveran.

Now ive been reading about how great menzerna Final polish II is.. How great AIO is, i already know how great souveran is... I am not happy with SG topped with s100 or souveran..

Now will this work... AS PREP i use the Final Polish II from Menzerna, then use AIO, top it with #7 Show car glaze then put my souveran over it...

OR, instead of AIO use Pinnacle or P21s Paintwork cleansing lotion...

Any help would be appreciated..

Here is a pic of the car right now...

The Above pic is the car with 3m SMR and NXT ONLY..

I would likely do AIO, Clearkote VM or RMG then Souveran myself. FP II gives a really nice finish I believe so I would even be tempted to skip the AIO and go straight to my Glaze and Wax.

On my own Black car I polished with the Poorboys SSR's then went VM and RMG befor my sealant, Nattys Blue or Souveran.

sorry for being such a newbie in posting, but is there a sticky where i could see what some of the abbreviations mean... Such as RMG..

anyway, so you suggest skipping the Klasse AIO and just using my glaze and carnuba?\ after i polish the car with FP II? Is AIO useless after FP II?

What would you advice to use for paint cleansing if i am not using AIO? Paintwork cleansing lotion?

FP II followed by RMG and Souveran looks stunning on my black ES 300! AIO then Souveran should look fantastic as well.

On the home page of Autopia look to the right side and see a block that says Community Information. In that little block it will say "Secret Decoder Ring" click that item and it will bring you to a list of abbreviations that will satisfy most of your questions.

I skip the glaze and opt in Wolfgang just for some added durability. Wolfgang x3 then topped with Souveran ( I insist on the fun of spit shining it) is quite breath taking! :bow

thanks man I will get my self familiar with all the terms..

You got any advice for my question above?
.

As far as I am concerned I should be asking you some questions. Your car looks great just the way you are doing it now!!

I have used and still have in my arsenal most all of the menzerna products. they work great.

AIO and SG are two of my personal favorites. I think that they are the most cost effective products on the market.

Souveran is always a good topper. In fact, I did the hood of my pickup this date after washing, drying, claying and cleaning it all up with Poorboy's S&W. Put on two coats just to get started.

You'll get the best appearance with just the FP II and Souveran. You could get some extra durability by including a sealant, but that may not be significant to you.

The durability really isnt a concern for me as the car is washed 1-2 times a week and waxed bi-monthly. So a sealer may not be necessary for my specific application, but something that works as a cleaner would be nice... I have no idea what to use here at all. Kinda lost...

I am definetely going to be getting the Menzerna FPII as the polish for my PC 7424 and use it with a polishing pad or mild cutting pad, but i will determine that if necessary cuz i dont really have swirl marks.. The car actually had more marks when it came out of the dealership (i asked them not to prep the car since it was special ordered, they didnt listen, hehe)

Here is what I am thinking about doing:

Combo #1: FPII (as prep), AIO, #5 or #7 from Meguiars then Souveran then use AIO when i want to clean the paint again and then repeat the glazing and waxing again...

Combo #2: FPII (as prep), Glaze, souveran then use P21S or Pinnacle Paint Cleansing Lotion as a cleaner every 4-6 weeks.

Now, what is RMG and VM and is NXT paste wax any good?

As to what I have been doing for my car? well i try to be as careful as possible when washing it. Im sure you autopia guru's already know of all this, but any tips for better washing would be appreciated... Wash the lower panels with a separate mitt from the upper panels... Anything below the door molding gets a different mitt since the lower parts are usually soiled with more dirt. Dry with a blue waffle weave and grey finishing waffle weave towel from microfibertech.com and quick detailed after everywash... I dont like the Mequiars detailer AT ALL. Mothers and Eagle 1 Wipe and shine has worked alot better and not to mention easier..

As for the polishing 2 times or more a year, I use 3M SMR with a Mequiars yellow pad. THen i remove the residue with a quick detailer and then wax her up.. I clay the car every 2 months.

any opinions or advice will be appreciated... Even though i use to be a detailer a few years back, i still have LOTS to learn!!

here is another pic of the car...

I wouldn't use the #5/#7 after the AIO as it'll just sit on top of the little bit of stuff the AIO leaves behind. I'd skip the AIO and use the #5/#7 then top with Souveran. No real need for a paint cleaner after FPII. When you need to clean the paint you could use the Pinnacle PCL. But you don't really need to do it all that often.

Combo #2: FPII (as prep), Glaze, souveran then use P21S or Pinnacle Paint Cleansing Lotion as a cleaner every 4-6 weeks.

I'd just refresh the Souveran without bothering with the paint cleaner. You can do this for quite a while before you really need to clean it (I do this with my Jag), especially if you occasionally use the mild green Sonus clay.

RMG is a glaze that a lot of people like. It would substitute for the #5/#7. Dunno about the NXT, but IMO it won't look like Souveran (nothing does ;) ).

Get a foamgun.

I'll definitely second the foam gun. Also, the more mitts, ( I prefer sheepskin) the merrier per wash wash session.

I use 4 sheepskin wash mitts per session... One for the front and rear bumpers, one for the lower side panels, one for the upper doors, hood and trunk and one for the wheels along with a brush for the calipers and inbetween the lug nuts and such and of course, lots of water...

I think i am going to do the FPII, topped with some sort of glaze and straight to the Souveran (i love souveran, it looks terrific) then for cleaning use the Pinnacle PCL when necessary... THe car is driven 24k miles a year so it see's a decent amount of driving. Ide imagine that it will need to be "cleansed" more than usual..

Again, thanks for all the help and for the welcoming comments..

yea i want to improve on the depth a bit as well while learning better techniques... The 3M SMR works pretty well, but its very annoying to use.. S100 works well, Nxt liquid Tech wax has worked alright and i have used souveran before. I will DEFINTELY be going back to souveran and wanted to improve the "foundation" i guess..

THanks for the kind words man!

Some People wont agree with me doing this, and I realise myself for maximum durabilit and the fact I have compromised bonding etc, but on my own car I loved

VM + RMG + YCW + WG x2 then Souveran/Nattys Blue

Wow i went to thier website and thier prices are pretty terrific, but i dont see any RMG or WG or YCW... I see a CW though!

Im such a newbie here!!!

nm i found it.... thanks again..

Guys, sorry for being dense, but what the heck is RMG?? It's not listed on the "Secret Decoder Ring" and the Clearcote site (I get the feeling it's a Clearcote product?) doesn't have anything that translates into RMG!

Thanks.
