Colored Wax for White Cars?

As I was washing my white van the other day, I started wondering, has anyone ever made products that have a color to them so that you can see it on light colored cars when you're buffing it off?

Just curious.

I hadn't considered this for the purpose of tinting a white paint job but believe that the wax coat is so thin and designed to be virtually transparent that you wouldn't see much of difference. Natty's blue is a blue wax for instance and though it deepens the paint ever so slightly compared to regular Natty's you almost need to have these side by side to notice a difference.

Yeah, some company (Turtle Wax?) makes colored wax for different color vehicles; red wax for red cars, etc, to help hide chips and inperfections. It comes with a lipstick-like tube of waxy stuff to help fill in chips and scratches. I remember trying some once years ago but I can't remember whether the wax color shows well enough to do what you're asking about. I know I've seen this at Pep Boys, but there's not one near where I live now.

There's some sunscreen that goes on purple and eventually fades to clear so that you can see if you've covered all of your kid's skin. That's the type of thing I was thinking about. But in the case of the car, you would just wipe it off in the final buff.

Just wondering if someone had tried doing this yet.
