Anyone have used this wax before...? It's a cleaner wax type rite. I'm looking for a durable cleaner wax....? As most cleaner waxes are not very durable. Anyone can help me comment on this Collinite Paste Sapphire 73SS wax...? Thanks. :)

I believe that one was designed for single stage paint-I'm not sure if it's clearcoat safe-read the bottle. All collinite stuff is pretty good.

That's what I was thinking too...made for single-stage. My Collinite product info doesn't say anything about it not being clearcoat-safe, but for some reason I wouldn't use it for that  I *THINK* I read "not for use on clearcoats" *somewhere* in their info once upon a time, but as I can't find it I can't say for sure.

I'd call the guys at Collinite up and ask them.

But for that matter, I'd just use another cleaner/AIO-type product and top with a Collinite straight wax. I don't think it'd really be much more work and you could use something that's trim-friendly, which is usually not the case with most cleaner-waxes.

Yes, I'm currently searching for any information on this Collinite 73SS (I guess SS must stands for Single Stage)...? But will it harm the clear coat if it's not clear coat safe..? What kind of problem would I get if I used it..? Thanks.

The potential problem is that it might have abrasives that'll leave (micro)marring on clear.

Sounds like jtford95's experience says that's not the case, but just remember that YMMV ;)

I had asked Collinite a couple years ago. They said it wasn't recommended for clearcoats. I don't think they said why, though, or if they did, I can't remember the answer.

I've sent an e-mail to them. Still waiting for their reply. Like I say, maybe the SS stands for Single Stage...? Hehe. Worse case scenario then I might get another can of 476S. ;) Thanks guys for all ur help and advise.

It was about 5 or 6 years ago since I used it. It was on a black truck. I didn't see any micro marring and the owner didn't complain about it looking bad or marred up. Now I'm curious

myself. Please let us know. Thanks. Joe

SilverSeven, how you get Collinite product at Malaysia?

I get them from US..... Malaysia doesn't have any dealer. Singapore has but a little bit difficult as the website doesn't accept credit card and it's quite troublesome.....

Okay Collinite just reply my e-mail. This is what Mike wrote:

Dear Bernard:

The #73ss Sapphire Auto Wax can be used on clear-coat finish. The #73ss sells for $xx.xx per 12 oz. Let me know if you want to order one.

Accumulator is right....at one time the description on the Collinite page said not for clear coated paints...now maybe they reformulated it ...But I do remember it saying Not recommended for Clear Coated paint...now that was 3 years ago...

So if Mike said its OK then it should be good to go on CC...

SilverSeven, may I know more detail on the way you purchase the Collinite product ? I am quite interested in that.

I suppose they reformulated all their stuff due to the then-new VOC regs (I only discussed the reformulation of 476S and 845 with them so I dunno about their other products for *certain*). Guess they switched abrasives.
