Collinite 845

JaredPointer

COME AT ME BRO
I came across a nice little bargain for some 845, and since I have always heard good things about it, thought I'd give it a try. Does anyone have any tips, tricks, cheat codes, etc that I can use with it? I don't know anything about it and have never used it. I am curious. :inspector:

The only Collinte I have used is No. 476s, which I found to be very durable, which like 845 they claim, is easy on easy off...while its not painful to remove I have found it alittle harder then other waxes...

Interesting 845 was originally developed for use by electric power companies for protection against high voltage power failure, fires and explosions.

You will probably like it. Easy to use, looks good, it's slick, and it has great durability.
The only strange thing about it is the thickness of the product. I actually thought I had a bad bottle when I first saw how thick it was.
It starts out thicker than you probably will want to use, but it seems like the more you shake the bottle, the thinner it becomes.
It will be about the same consistency as Meg's NXT after you give it a good shaking.
Thin is in as with most any product application, but I'm sure you already knew that. :)

I ended up giving my 476S away because of the difficulty using it. I have since read that the problem was most likely me. I think I have read that the 476S should be a wipe on, wipe off application. Don't wait for it to haze or it can be difficult to remove.

The 845 was quite easy to apply and remove and the durability is such that I never had any more interest in the 476S.

Glad to see it was not just me...I found that to, almost as soon as you wipe it on, wipe it off...if it begins to haze or fully dries...forget it, it becomes more work then the protection it provides...

but its gives a decent shine, and I must say it has good durability...

I recieved a sample of Collinite 845 from a member of another forum about 5 months ago. It was the advice of Charles W that got me to take the extra effort to really shake my two ounce sample bottle. It definitely made a difference in the texture of the product.

It certainly was easy on and easy off. Since I was used to "less is more" from my experience with another sealant that the application of
845 was really simple.

I have been using it on my chrome wheels lately. It has served me well. My paint looked good but not better than anything else that I have used. so it was good but not amoung my favorites to have in my arsenal.

Good to see positive thoughts on it from people who know. I personally think I am going to try topping the Z2-Pro on my truck and then driving for the president as it will be bullet proof. :D

Anyone else? :???

What if the bullets are filled with a Dawn/Simple green mixture...what happens then?:D

Well, I guess we'd all be in trouble as that would signal the beginning of the war to end all wars. Someone savage enough to use that kind of ammo is truly a madman. ;)

To each his own, but why would you top the Z2-Pro with anything?
845 will not allow you to reapply Z2-Pro and have it bond properly without using a paint cleaner to remove the 845.
I tend to stick with either a sealant or a wax on a vehicle rather than the mix & match.
It does seem like I'm in the minority on that, though. :)

I believe its our never ending quest to get the deepest wetest look around, therefore we try all types of combinations...I would cover my car with crisco if I thought it would look better.

No real reason other than I wanted to try the Collinite. FWIW, I am not 100% sure I buy into the "you can't do this on top of that" mantra. Then again, I'm no chemist and I am usually a stickler for following mfgr directions. My thoughts are that it's just wax and I can always start over if I want to. :)

That's the main reason I have used so many different products. If necessary, I could be happy with any of several I have tried.
It's much worse for me with the advent of the internet forums. Before that, I might hear of and try something new every year or two. Now it seems to be every month.
FWIW, other than ease of use, (or lack thereof:)), I don't think any of the products have been truly bad products. Of course, when you wax every 4 to 6 weeks, they don't have a real tough job to perform. :D

:D You can blame Kirk, it's all his fault! :)

Well it sounds as if you have been talking to my wife. That is what she does all the time.

But the Zaino always creaps to the fore when I ask her to differenticate LSP's on a blind test. She blames me for that as well. :wall;)

I've said it before, but the Zaino products I have tried (most of them anyway) have performed well. It's just that they have so much hype to live up to and overcome that if you don't put Zaino on an Escort and wind up with a Porsche that I feel left down! :) Seriously, the product can and should stand on it's own without the yahoos and zealots pushing it down your throat all the time. Sometimes I wonder if people start crying when they read some of the stuff they write.

Hey, how did a thread entitled COllinite 845 become about Zaino?!?! KIRK!!!!! :D

Hey JaredPointer,

I am using collinite #845 and it is one of the best carnuba waxes ive ever used. I really like it and the durability is awesome.

For sure you will like it too.

I am in full agreement with shaking the product until your head rattles .......then shake it some more. I found it very easy to apply and remove as have most folks here. I didn't think it the best looking wax I had ever used as far as light reflection and all that goes but the durability was second to none. The trial section I applied it to was much easier to clean (and keep clean) than the areas that did not have a layer of it. Bueno stuff!
