Collinite 845

I was wondering what kind of result you get with collinite 845? I've heard that it doesn't give that wow factor. Im going to be polishing my car and want protection but also that wow factor. Could i layer a carnuba wax on top of the collinite and have that protection underneath the wow factor top layer?

Or should i use a sealant with say, Natty's Blue over it?

What do you guys suggest?

I think if you tried it you would be pleasantly surprised. I use it on quite a few of my details (customers love the MAD beading they get). I found it has more of a clear look than other waxes, almost like a sealant. Has great durability and does a nice job bringing out the flake.

Hope this helps

i got a bottle and really like it. used it on a red and white car and got great results. very user friendly. gonna use it on my own car when i have more time.

With proper prep(as with any product) it will look great. I particularly like it on light metallics, as it really brings out the flake and adds a ton of wetness to those colors. Plus it beads very well and lasts a long time.

Alright sounds good. I have a santorin a4 (dark blue, slight metallic). How long do you guys find it lasts?

Would it add wetness if i applied natty's blue over it?

Lasts a good 4-5 months for me. Yes, Natty's would probably add wetness, just make sure the Collinite is fully cured before you apply it over it.

It is about as durable as a traditional wax gets. I top mine off on my wifes car about every 4 mos. Natty's would probably add wetness, but I would put the 845 on and see how it looks. I find it quite nice, even better after the first wash

I have been using 845 on top of Poli-seal this spring on all of the details that I have done for the family. This has been a great combination on just about every color.

Great shine and great durability.

So where are the best places to get it from?

Look for a Marine store and ask them for Collinite Fiberglass Boat Wax (No. 925) which is EXACTLY the same thing as the insulator wax. If you are in the city you can try West Marine, they have a few branches on Manhattan, one is on 37th between 5th and 6th (closer to 5th) ;)

No problem just remember things in West Marine stores are a little on the expensive side. The Marine store in Freeport Long Island was selling it for $14.

Carnaubas don't cure.

Well, let's just say that after a while they become less likely to be compromised by the subsequent application of product ;) Applying numerous coats of carnauba back to back isn't the same as applying them a day or so apart and if I'm gonna top Collinite I wait a day or so (or even until the next wash).

With all the "resins" in 845, I dunno if I'd even call it a carnauba, but that's spitting hairs.

to answer the OP's question, 845 does not give the wow factor for me as far as enhancing the look goes. I have used NB over their 476S, NB is a much better looking wax IMO, especially after you give it a few hours to "cure".
