Hey guys and gals,



Purchased some 845 IW today locally and was not sure whether it is a topper or base, seems base for durability etc...



Am applying to a White Crown Vic and in the past have polished, then used Megs 26 Yellow for protection and topped that with either Megs GC or NXT for a little more shine.



While I want depth and shine out of this car it is outdoors much of the time so I need protection and have heard great things about 845IW.



So a few different questions about the product:

1. Will layering of IW help with durability, depth, etc?

2. Should Megs 26, Megs 7, Megs GC, or NXT be used with the IW and if so in what order?

3. Should the IW be the first product to use after polishing?

4. Will spraying the final product with NXT spray detailer help looks or durability wise?

5. How should IW be applied via PC (pad and speed?) or should it be applied via hand instead?

6. Should the IW be kinda like a paste in a bottle, the reason I ask is because it is not really liquid for me, can't really shake it up, I can squeeze the sides of the bottle and make it pop out the top and then spread it on a pad but it seems to have a chapstick consistency when coming out of the bottle?



Thanks for any thoughts, ideas, comments, or suggestions!!

It won't move much initially, but after a certain amount of time it will thin out nicely.



845 responds good to layering, and it is a stable, durable product. Always start with the most durable link first, and don't use cleaning waxes over it.



I think 845 ×2 is absolutely sufficient, but if you wish, you can apply #26 over it to darken a little bit.



I spreads forever, so the PC application is great! Use a finishing pad on speeds 2-4 (your experience, your choice).
 
Ok, so then would putting NXT, then IW, then 26 on be the darkest/sharpest result or would using them all cause a conflict in bonding?
 
You should be ok, but I would not do all that in one day, let them cure first. Not sure, but #26 might have some cleaning ability, if so it will remove the IW, but then again IW might have some cleaning ability. Maybe wait a week before topping between each layer and let your eyes judge what the difference's are.
 
The #26 shouldn't have cleaning properties. I'd lay down two layers of NXT paste (NOT liquid!), the IW, then #26 - both ×2 if you wish. NXT with IW is very reflective but the #26 tones them down a bit...
 
I also use a double boiler method (on low) to heat up the wax a little bit so I dont have to shake as much. It works very well and takes care of itself while I'm drying or polishing. Also, if its a hot, sunny day I will leave the bottle in the sun and that works well too.
 
In my experience, the thick paste behaves stoically, but during shaking it suddenly turns into its thin, liquid state. There is no need for the boiling process IMO, but it is vital to shake the bottle in every imaginable way, not just up/down, but rocking, twisting... whatever. 1-2 minutes of Shake Rattle'n Roll worked with all of my bottles.
 
Over the period of about 3 days, IW changes to get slicker and slicker. I'd let it cure for a couple days before applying anything else over it.
