Collinite 845 II - Electric Boogaloo

JaredPointer

COME AT ME BRO
Well, my Collinite arrived in the mail yesterday. Since I did not have time to try it on an entire vehicle, I tried it on the hood. Here's how it went down: I cleaned the hood and the top of the cab with Z-6, as Z-2 Pro/ZCS has been the last LSP's put on. After this I put Collinite directly on the hood, and laid down some ZCS on the roof. This will allow me to do some comparisons if I choose to.

Initial impressions: The stuff was thick when it got to me, so I shook it up and set it in the sun for a few minutes. Shook it some more. By this time it had a nice consistency, so I did the deed.

To me, it stayed wet for a long time. Almost like it didn't flash or something. The directions were pretty vague on removal wait times, so I let part of sit a good while longer than the rest. I did not have any removal problems on the section that sat or on the section I took off shortly after application.

Did not particularly care for the smell or for the bottle cap - I would rather have one with a dispenser type opening.

I think it looks pretty good. It's glossy and it has a "fulfilling" look as well. Not quite as bright as ZCS/Z-2 Pro on the roof. I also found it to be relatively slick.

It is supposed to rain today, so I am hoping to get a chance to see the beading.

Any comments, suggestions or people who want to tell me I am doing it wrong?

Interesting stuff...now is 845 a Sealent or a wax? Just curious, because you mentioned the long duration of wet times...I know alot of sealents out there Zaino, Black Fire, want you to wait 15 minutes or so before removing...

Well at least it was easy to remove.

Nevermind, just did a search of your recent threads and noticed its the same.

I love my collinite too! I use it maybe 85% of the time. It just last for soo soo long and beads sooo sooo tight. A lot of clientelle enjoy seeing that and the initial look is very glossy and bright. They love it when I can promise 3-4 months minimum and also give them a way to tell (beading).

Its like letting a child help you for the day and giving them something small to do. They come back after doing it all happy like it was crucial.

Joy

BTW, my way of application is WAWO per hood or two panels. Doing it this way, makes it easy to buff off, and takes a final buff to remove streaking.

This is a different version to the first one? Wonder what they changed? Where did you buy?

Collinite 845. If you are referring to the "II Electric Boogaloo" it's a vague reference that I named the post, as it was the second Collinite 845 thread I had posted in a couple of days. It's just regular old Collinite as far as I know.

/My cleverness, let me show you it.
//I should be serious about things one day.

Suposedly it's a wax that acts as a sealant on the side. :) It seriously supposed to be like a long lasting, detergent proof wax. I am just getting my feet wet with it. Lots of folks know lots more about than me.

It's rained/raining so I stepped out to check the beading out on the hood and roof of the truck. Beading id better on the hood - i.e. it's smaller and more uniform. By a noticeable margin. Not that beading means anything other than the way the water pools up on a particular surface, I'm just reporting because lots of folks are interested in beading.

I will be keeping an eye on how easy it is to remove the dirt during the next wash between the two panels.
