Coconut scent in wax

Many of you saw my thread where I posted beading videos of my home made wax.

Well, while I was messing around, since most of the expensive waxes around smell of coconuts, I decided to try some coconut oil, one because I know waxes need oil to work properly, spread easily, and look nice as well as getting that high end wax scent.

What I found however, is that coconut oil has absolutely no scent at all! So why do all the expensive waxes smell like coconut?

I understand that they add the scent, but I thought the whole idea was because coconut oil smelled like coconuts, if it doesnt, how do coconut scent and wax go together?

Sory i this seems strange, but I was perplexed when i opened up my container of coconut oil to mess around with in wax making, and discovered it had no scent.

For years i thought the reason all the zymols smelled like coconut was because they have coconut oil in them, zymol lists that in the ingredients.

Coconuts don't really have much smell, do they? Perhaps the smell you associate with coconut is actually a smell dreamed up by marketers to be pleasant and not the real smell of coconuts. After all, that's what the flavors and fragrances companies do.
