Cockpit Cleaner Comparison

I've been using 1Z Einszett Cockpit Premium for the past 3 years and I LOVE the product. It has no shine, but cleans and repels dirt and dust better than anything I used before. The second best feature about it is the smell, wow, how I love the way it smells, it just scream professional cleaner and new detailed car.

The only negative thing I've found in Cockpit Premium is that in the last year (1/4 bottle left) I began to notice it leaving spots on my car's dash and specifically steering wheel. It would make some spots darker than others, and I would have to rub it out with a lot water to get it off. I don't know if I neglected to shake the bottle before use since day one and some proportion of a chemical became higher than another, or the product just doesn't have a long lifespan.

My questions are:

A. Has anyone encountered this with 1Z Einszett CP Not sure if it matters, but the car I own is a Saab 93 with textured dash and steering wheel (not smooth by any means).

B. Are there any other products I can try that have no shine like CP and have a very pleasant light smell similar to CP?

C. Thoughts about Sonus Cockpit cleaner??

Thanks.

A. Never experienced the problem you have of spotting. I have been shaking the bottle but wether that is the cause is uncertain.

B. Two OTC products in Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer and Eagle One Nano Protectant.

Both are very similar to 1Z Cockpit Premium, cleans nice, leaves a matte / no shine finish and smell nice while applying.

C. No experience with the Sonus Cleaner but sounds like a very similar product. The Megs and EO work so well that i just stick with those now

Well, this one doesn't have a smell to it but is an excellent product none the less, 303 Aerospace Protectant. I use it, I love it.

IMO, 303 has noticeably more shine that CP does. Yes, you can buff the 303 to get rid of a lot of the shine, but it still has some shine... CP has NONE. I haven't had the problems with CP you've described (my current bottle is probably about 2 years old), and also haven't ever found anything I like as much.

well cockpit premium is intended to be a cleaner. Have you been following up your cockpit premium application with a protectant like 1Z vinyl Care? The spotting probably occured from the sun working the cleaner into your plastic. If you are using a protectant maybe that could be the source of the spotting as well.

Come to think of it I did notice some spotting on the plastic nearest the inside of the windshield. My dash is red for the most part but the trim is black. Last time I noticed the spotting I applied Klasse VLRP (for non Calfornians, you have to ask for it that way) and it masked the spotting and worked well.

Perhaps a stronger plastic cleaner would work. I'd give the FK plastic cleaner a shot its cheap

I really like the Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer for light cleaning, followed up by Sonus Total Eclipse for a very very low sheen protectant. It's like 303 without all the buffing.

If I've got heavier cleaning to do, then I break out the Sonus Cockpit Detailer - it's a little stronger, will get a touch of "foam" if you scrub hard or use a lot of product. I might follow up with QID and then finish with my protectant of choice.

Actually I have a bottle of 303 Aerospace. I know its regarded as a great product, but I don't like it because it does have a noticable shine. I use it mostly on my sister's Altima. If you've been inside a Saab or Volvo (or other that have similar interior), you'll know why you don't want to use anything that's going to shine.

I thought CP was both a cleaner and protector? At least that's how they advertise it on their site.

I'll go tonight to Pep Boys to give the Meguiar's a smell test. I've used their leather cleaner once and I couldn't set in my car for a week because the smell wasn't pleasant. If not, I guess back to CP, hopefully I just had a bad bottle before and didn't shake it well.
