Coatings on single stage paints

I applied OCP, QCF, and 22ple VX1 to a couple panels of my winter beater (white 1992 Prelude)...all 3 failed to bead shortly after.

It is my understanding that coatings are designed for clears, most of my clients that have collector cars that are single stage are not worried about durability as much as appearance

Yes that is my understanding a well. I have a client with an 86 porsche 930 with super soft black paint. I was hoping a coating would offer better protection if it would bond. Thanks for the reply as well Mike.

In my experience on my 2006 Suzuki (SS red) waxes and sealants tend not to last very long. I've never used a coating, but IMO, the way that SS paints fade and oxidizes so quickly, it "undermines" the sealant and doesn't let the product bond properly to good paint.

I used OCP on an 85 Guards Red Porsche. Actually tried to talk the customer out of it (Thank you Accumulator) but he chose to go the coating route. Did give it a deep gloss but have to use Opti-Seal to keep it beading.

What make/model/year do you have?

I am looking to add a hard layer of protection because the paint is so soft. Not as concerned with the duriblity but that is a factor. I corrected this car about a year ago and the owner took it in for repairs and the dealership washed the car and made a mess of it.
