I went to coastal tool to see about a new rotary...went to the Hitachi rotary and seen the price went up to 169.00...that is a 70.00 increase from a month ago..it was 99.00 last month...

Now for that price I can get another Makita with a bag and pads from them...

I broke the case on mine when I dropped it from a ladder doing some sanding on side of house...

thought I would mention the price increase...

I just called them..and the have 4 on the shelf for 99.00..after that the new ones will be 169.00....so I ordered one....

so if you are contemplating getting one..now would be the time....

If you do order...ask for Wayne....he gave me the 99.00 price...

If you search ebay they're available there from the Utter Guys, an actual tool store, for $119 plus shipping. Still not a bad price.

I picked up this rotary a month ago and like it alot, It's a great deal... Just make sure you get a good backing plate.. The one that comes with it is just too big.

I picked one up from these guys about a month ago. Great guys, great service, and so far I like the rotary alot.

Not sure if I like the handle 100% after talking to Mike Phillips, he prefers the handle on the side. Being a newbie, I don't know the difference.

Definetely will need a new backing plate no matter what pad selection you choose. I haven't done any cars yet, but some practice hoods and panels. So far, the machine does everything they say about the machine. Different products will produce different results in that some can and will burn thru paint quicker, but only if you do something stupid like hold the machine in one spot and apply too much pressure. I can see masking the car for high spots and other things to avoid sling of polishing products will be necesarry for me compared to a PC. I think I will tackle my neighbors beater car later this week, and than do my truck next week this machine to get those realy tough but annoying swirls that only show up at the night time gas station lights.

PS the machine I got had the exact speed settings on it so that is a nice bonus I wasn't expecting, I had read the earlier models only had the #'s 1,2,3,4, 5 etc. This has the RPMs too.

TigerMike, Thanks for the link to this one, I was too late for the coastaltools price. These guys were fast though! Ordered it Monday morning and it showed up Wednesday afternoon! I didn't think it would get here so fast. Had to order a backing plate and a few more pads from Excel yesterday... can't wait to play with it as soon as they show up!
