Cloudy dash clock

I as just wondering how to clean a cloudy dash clock. I can barely read the numbers. I tried just a damp towel and nothing else for fear of messing up the clock but i know somebody must have the same problem. She smokes in the car and i have taken care of that problem but this stubborn clock display is driving me crazy. Its not moisture either. My girlfriend has the same problem with her factory stereo display in her 98 honda civic coupe. Any suggestions on getting these things back clear? I have tried Plastx on her screen with no results and on the clock with no results.

If you have used plastic cleaner and that has not taken off the film then I am wondering if its on the inside?

try some white wine vinegar and see if that helps...outside that a good plastic cleaner should take anything that is on the surface off....if not then wet sanding the surface is in order IMO but that is a drastic measure

Lacquer Thinner will work great!:eek::yikes:

Just kidding, that will ruin it. Instrument panel plastic is pretty delicate. It seems like Plastx would work but you might not be using enough elbow grease. I like using a one-step cleaner wax to polish instrument panels with a foam applicator. A product like Poorboy's PwS or Pinnacle's XMT 360 should give you good results.
