Closing story is puzzling ?

Cleaning the 740iL's wheels was a major pain. Even after two back-to-back cleanings with Sonus Wheel Gel, the rims still had brake dust cooked all over the place. I started searching through the boxes and came across some BlackFire...hmmm, I'll give it a shot!

Here's the BlackFire getting ready to go on to the wheel...

You can see the gunk caked on to the wheel...plain rubbing didn't remove it, nor did the Sonus.

A few swipes/rubs with a little BF later...(I used drops about the size of a thumb-tack)

One wheel done, 3 to go...

Feel free to ponder.

Microfiber, cut into squares. It was a Griot's MF towel that would lint if I looked at it funny, so I figured it would be ok to sacrifice it... :)

It's a car wax and dessert topping... a little poetic license from a classic SNL skit.

ROFLMAO! :p

Wait... did geeky use the "polish" or the "protectant?" If it was the "polish," then that would make more sense...

<strong class='bbc'>BLACKFIRE Gloss Enhancing Polish[/b]

<em class='bbc'>Use Gloss Enhancing Polish to remove old wax,

<em class='bbc'>All Finish Paint Protection incorporates high

protected month after month and wash after wash.[/i]

The bottle says "Gloss Enhancing Polish" so I guess Steve used the non-abrasive "prep" product...

Makes sense?

in the pic it says Gloss enhancing polish, so i guess he used the polish...come on its steve here! He wouldn't try to WAX off brake dust....or would he. :scared

Wasn't going to say anything, but I used both products on the BMW. I took pictures of both, and the results that they produced...lemme say this:

<font size = "+2">Identical results</font> with pictures to help prove it...:nixweiss

Could it be that they are the same thing?

Funny how CMA keeps saying how “safe it is, yet according to someone’s test, the pH levels of both products are quite high.

<em class='bbc'>The unique oil-in-water emulsion is safe for all paint finishes with or without a clear coat. This emulsion contains a small amount of a very refined mineral spirit in a water base. It does not contain any of the strong, VOC solvents found in most polymer products.[/i]

A non-abrasive refined mineral spirit? ;) :D

I guess we shouldn't trust <strong class='bbc'>any[/b] manufacturer’s claim (or their sponsors/partners/distributors) too much. After all, they sell (or help sell) it.

EDIT: Since all polymers or waxes contain at least a tiny bit of solvents or chemicals, do you think Klasse SG or some other similar proudct will do the same?

Send it to ME! I like the Sonus cleaner!

I wouldn't say that my wheel cleaning experiment is the "end all be all test" of BlackFire products. Just making a simple observation, take it for what it's worth...perhaps others could experiment with it and share their results?

BF polish and protectant the same? Could be... It would certainly account for CMA recently telling users of BF to SKIP the polish in some cases and just go with the protectant. Also has anyone checked out CMA's new "wax comparison chart" on BF? Gimme a friggen break!

<blockquote class='ipsBlockquote' >

All Finish Paint Protection wipes on and buffs off in about 20 minutes for the average size car and the protection will last six to nine months!

Pro: It lasts! Wash after wash and month after month!

Durability rating: 180 - 270+ days!
</blockquote>
Has even one BF user reported that it lasted even 1 month much less 6 to 9? Or that it lasts through multiple washes?

Come on, truth in advertising....
:down

Somewhat unrelated, but I had terrible durability results with BF on my wife's friend's Mercedes. It was a 2001 E class, with 2,000 miles on it when I BF'd it. I then washed it at 2,200 miles and again at 2,500 miles (over a period of about 3.5 months)...after the third wash, it was dead.

If you do a search, I'm sure you can dig up the thread on this. Also, I'm not trying to be paranoid or a conspiracy theorist, but given the "track record" with other wax mfg's and honesty, I don't know who to believe when it comes to claims...that's part of the reason I started thewaxtest.com.

Once I finish this dang WaxTest magazine, we'll be starting Round2, and will test BF head-to-head with the other waxes. Then, it'll get interesting! We're also hiring a lab to do some chemical analysis for us (which is outrageously expensive), but it will tell us definitively once and for all what's in some of these products.

Stay tuned!
