clear bra

I think you may have posted this in the wrong forum. Or was this suposed to be a repy to a comment in an exisiting thread?

Any way I've had a clear bra on for about 1 1/2 years on my black accord. The edge of the bra can only be seen from certain angles and when closer than about 10-15 feet. IMHO, the white and silver cars are the least noticable. The edge where the bra ends on the hood is usually the part that most people notice first. Being careful not to get wax/sealeant on the edges of the bra is the best way to keep them looking good. The The standard X-pel kit only goes up the hood about 1/3 of the way. You could ask the installer to "wrap" your entire hood with the bra for an additional cost. This is exactly what it sounds like. He will wrap the edges of the clear bra under your hood so that there are no lines visable. My only regret is not spending the extra money to get that done.

krsjuan,

your right, this was a reply to another thread that i posted incorrectly...but thanks for the info on the bra. this has got to be the best way to protect the front and mirrors that i've ever seen. they want big bucks for my corvette ($600). does that seem right?

thanks again!

Hmm.. I payed about $500 on a 2003 accord. That was the standard X-pel kit that covers the front bumper,1/3 of the hood, the front half of each front fender, and the side mirrrors. Your car is bigger than mine so I'm assuming that's an OK price. Did they give you any deatails about what type of clear film they use? X-pel uses 3m and from what I'm told that's the best.

You could go here to find an X-pel dealer near you. I would definitly shop around but that price seems fair.

thanks for the info. thats what i'm concerned about..i've read that the 3m film yellows over time which would not make me a happy camper with a white car. i better do more research.

The films have really come some way in the last few years. Almost all of them will not yellow for at least 5-10 years (built in UV protection).

I recently had my SL55, black, wrapped and it much better than the "non-wrapped" kits. You still have the same problem at the edges. What I do when polishing or waxing is to tape off the edges so that you won't get any build up. Wrapping is the only way to go in my opinion.:woot: :woot:
