Clear Bra Removal

Bellydawg

Get over it and move on.
I searched the past postings and can not find any info on removal of a clear bra. I picked up a used 2001 Acura MDX that has a clear bra installed. It is in sad shape as far as haze and slight discoloration.

Is there a procedure to remove one at home or is it easier to bring it to a shop? Most of the web sites only speak of the installation process. I have tried to remove it in several areas yet only get very small pieces. Thought about using a hair dryer to heat it up before removing. I don't plan on having one reinstalled.

Any thoughts are appreciate.

I would call a local installer and see what they suggest for removal...seems to me from everyone that I have seen, heat will loosen up the glue and allow you to peel it back...seems time consuming....but the only way that I can see it coming off

The shop I am acquainted with has had problems with the paint peeling at times taking theirs off so if it were me I wouldn't attempt it myself.

Have a shop that applies it take it off and make sure they don't waiver responsibilty for paint damage.

I have mixed feelings about clear bras. They have gotten better over the years but I still don't like the looks of them. That coupled with their expense and the fact that they start showing damage after a while too keeps me from having it done to my cars.

I personally don't care for the looks either plus it has not aged well. Thanks for the input and link. I'll have to get some quotes on removal.
