Clear Bra on new paint?

My GF just had her car repainted and I was wondering how long I should wait before I have a clear bra installed?

I was also told that I should wait for 90 days before waxing, does this sound about right?

BTW….the paint was baked at the body shop.

Thanks!

Doubtful it was baked like the OEM. After posting and searching for the same question pretty much peeps say you can bra it right after, but i would wait 30 days

This came up a while back and somebody (sorry, I forget who it was :o ) contacted the manufacturers for the straight scoop.

Paint needs to cure/outgas for around 3-4 months whether it's baked or not. The 90 days is a minimum.

The clear bra shouldn't be applied until the outgassing is completed (that was straight from 3M IIRC).

Yeah, this creates a Catch-22 as you don't want to pick up any stone chips while the paint's curing...

Oh, and I like Meg's #5 for the fresh repaint, but their Deep Crystal Step #2 is a cheap, commonly available alternative. Apply after every wash.

See the post regarding waterspots on the clear bra. It's not what it is cracked up to be. I have had the clears on several cars and am beginning to think I have thrown my money away. :angry
