Clear bottles - bad?

How many of ya'll transfer compounds, polish, sealers, etc from the stock bottle (usually white or black) to a "ketchup" bottle where you can see what's left? I do, I get these bottles locally and they are much easier to use and have the value of showing when you're running out. Is there a problem with the products - like light messing with them or something? Hey, I'm no chemist so I'd thought I'd ask here.

I noticed one of my bottles of Z2 got bleached out from the sun....not sure if it will effect the performance of the product though...I wouldn't think so. I also have all my polishes in the clear Meguiars squeze bottles and have never seen any side effects from it.

Some polymers do react to the sun. With that said, most people detail and store their products out of direct sunlight. The small amount of time your products stay in direct sunlight should not harm even the touchiest polymers. Just remember after you use the bottle, put it back in the garage. This also helps preserve the consistancy of your products so not to dry them out. If you see on the label that it has a cure time with the product, I don't take a chance and always use a darker bottle. I hope this helps.

I've had certain sealants in clear bottles for over two years, no ill effects. As long as they aren't sitting in the sun you won't have an issue (I keep mine in a closet indoors).

That makes sense, I keep my supplies in a cabinent in the garage - not out on a shelf where they could be in the sun light. I sure like those ketchup bottles, they don't get those hard clumps like the flip top ones get. Ever squeeze a polish on a pad and polish "turd" pop out - followed by 4x as much as you needed!

I keep all of my "wax" products in my house. The temperature swings in my garage vary from 40 degrees in the winter, to 105-110 in the summer.

You may never have any problems with your products in the garage, but since I have quite a bit of money invested in products, I'm not going to take a chance.
