Cleaning windshield wipers

Ok guys, what do you use on cleaning your windshield wipers(glass cleaner, rubber and vinyl cleaner, etc...) and do you apply a coat of rubber protectant like 303 on afterwards?

Do not put anything on the wipers, you will destroy them.

You may wipe them off with a damp cloth occasionaly.

Replace them if they are causing a problem.

I have used DavidB's advice on using denatured alcohol to clean off the oxidation from the rubber. No treatment whatever. Been working great for me.

I've done the same. No damage from the alcohol to the blade (drying, cracking, etc.) as far as I can tell.

I usually just clean mine with glass cleaner, and that seems to work alright.

If you're a dummy like me and have scrubbed the wipers down to bare rubber because you thought the anti-friction coating on them was "dirt" (it's dark), I have used 303 applied sparingly and buffed well on them. It restores their slickness and stopped the terrible chatter I was getting. Be sure to buff them well and don't use too much though, or it will leave lines of protectant on your windshield where the blades stop.

I never use my wipers so there is no need to do any thing to them. Now there dead weight. Might take them off one day.
