Hi folks, I want to clean the wheel wells and was going to spray is down with commercial degreaser I have, but is there something else that y'all cpuld have a reccomendation on? And what should I use to coat it after cleaning.

In most cases a APC can be used to clean the wells and rinsed with a power washer or hose.My favorite dressing to use is Meguiars Hyper Dressing cut 3:1. This can vary depending on the condition of what you are working on.

For those that have lined wheel wells, I found Amazing Roll-Off seems to be an effective cleaner. Megs, Blackfire and Optimum all have good APC solutions that work great particularly on trucks and SUV's. Don't forget to find a suitable brush to agitate all the little nooks and crannies your hands can't reach.

I agree with the cleaning, but Meg's HD is just not durable for me. First rain and it's gone. CG Bare Bones looks great and will last a few washing/rain.

Any good APC will work, wet the well, spray in and let dwell for a few minutes, then use a long handle brush to ruff up the surface and rinse.

Repeat on areas that are still needing work :D

LOL

Thanks I will be going this route then, now why doesnt megs selll smaller portions of hyper dressing??

If you are looking for a smaller size of dressing I suggest CG bare bones. I bought a 16oz bottle and liked it so much I bought a gallon. But agree with PA Detailer that Meg's hyper dressing looks good from what I have seen online and is Economical when used at 3:1 or 4:1.

I have been trying PB's Trim Restorer and Ultma on plastic lined wells. I may need to do a more controlled experiment to really see if it is lasting longer. It does seem to look better longer but maybe refine my technique.

After reading about people cleaning and treating wheel wells I decided to give it a try. I got some CG Bare Bones because it was mentioned in a few places. The wheel wells were quite dirty and it not an area of the car I had given much attention to.

The whole cleaning-treating was rather easy and I am amazed how such a small rather hidden area of the car, as the wheel well is, has caused such a major change in my cars appearance.

+1 on the Amazing Roll Off! But as others have said and good APC works well. I have a couple of brushes dedicated just for the wheel well. I have used Giots Undercarriage spray and CC Bare Bones as the dressing. Both are good but my preference is CC Bare Bones. It seems less greasy.

Im a fan of the bare bones as well............

just seeing all the grease left on roadways, i use proforce heavy duty degreaser from sam's club. inexpensive and it works great. i usually finish with megs #40 vinyl & rubber cleaner/conditioner.
