Cleaning vomit from carpet

I recently had a call from one of my regular clients, someone threw up in the back seat and they could not get the odor out of the vehicle. When I showed up, it was mostly cleaned up (thank god) but the car did still have a strong smell...What I decided to do was extract the area multiple times to try and suck up any type of residue that could be creating the smell. I put extractor soap in, and also mixed in a deodorizer with enzymes that kill the bacteria creating the smell....I went over the area multiple times and I think I got most of it out. After I sprayed the area with some CAR Products Original Breeze odor eliminator.....Everything seemed to smell much better when I was finished, with only a faint odor left over which I think may just need a few days to air out. I told them to get back to me in a few days if it still smells....In the event that the smell is still there, what do you recommend I try? I have not had to deal with vomit smells in any of the cars I've done before..knock on wood.

I think it's one of those things that lingers unless you take out the carpet, take out the insulation, and wipe and extract everything 100% there is still going to be a lingering odor. But once vomit drys completely, then the smell is gone. Maybe you could try baking soda to help dry it out and freshen things up?

seeing that i had twins that had reflux and they used to throw up formula which stinks by itself ... I always used APC and then followed with some our Air Fresheners which also have biocides to kill odors and keep them gone;)
