cleaning roof carpet

I recently picked up an 03 trailblazer and noticed that the previous owner must have been a smoker.



Just above the driver's and passengers head the smell is most prevalent. I think the bulk of the smell is from the carpeted inside roof liner. I was simply going to spray with febreeze and wipe it in a damp cloth



any other suggestions to clean that carpeted area above my head ?



If vaccuum i only have in home central vac, how can i maximize the use of that

I use prestone carpet and upholstery in the red can. it is a foam style cleaner...spray on and agitate.

thanks.. i'll most likely do the carpet cleaner with a brush and see how it goes..

Alot of headliner's will "pill" when brushed. I don't really know what else to call it, but the fabric will sort of pull off of the surface and make little balls of fabric. Try with a towel first.

I use "ArmorAll" Carpet cleaner. It smells great, but try using a towel first

you don't wanna loosen the glue on the headliner....

Yes, use a towel and rub very lightly.



For off the shelf items, I like Turtle Wax's (yes TW) Upholstery cleaner with OdorX, just don't use the brush.
