Cleaning PC pads

I wash mine in the sink with a little dawn and air dry them. Do not wring them out, just press down on them on a towel. I plan on tossing mine when they start to tear or the velcro comes off.....

For polish pads, warm water will rinse them out fine. For wax, like the above poster said, dish detergent, warm water, rinse well, push on towel to dry, then air dry.

Like everyone else said. For polishes and compounds I use warm water.

For wax I use a little dawn in a bucket and I let it sit in the water for awhile. I'll then come and refill the bucket with clean water. I then squeeze the pad out in the sink, then put it in the bucket to suck some water up, then squeeze it back in the sink, and so on.

I'll then wrap it in a towel and stand on it to squeez out as much water as I can :D

Then I stick it on a wire shelf so air can get to both sides.

wow, I just let them soak over night in a strong solution of dawn and hot water. I then rinse them out in warm water, then cool water making sure all the dawn is out. I wring them along the way, and then I wrong them until all the wate ris out. then let air dry.

No problems for me with that method yet and I have used this method like countless times for my pads, no velcro failure, and the pads are so nice and clean.

This is with the CMA pads purchased last year.

Do not machine wash.

Do not dry in the dryer.

Do not fold them over more than you need too.

Do not keep taking them off and on the backing plate.

Trust me on this, my pc pads are far from new looking. Sure they work like they did on day 1 but I know they will not last as long.

I simply mix up a little batch of car wash solution (or use what was left from washing) and squish the pads repeatedly until the pad is clean. I then repeat the process in a rinse buckt, squeezing until I can get almost the water out. Then on to a towel to air dry . I will flip them ocassionally so that they dry evenly.

Squish them but try your best not to fold them. I used to put a drop or so of soap on the right side of the pad and fold the left over to scrub the right side. The backing becomes alot weaker.
