cleaning foam pads

What do you guys find to be the most effective technique to clean your foam pads after applying wax? I don't seem to be able to clean my pads well, and when I try to apply wax again the pad gives off a lot of dried wax "dust." Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I use a combination of water, dish detergent (although I'm thinking of using the Micro-Restore I use on my MF stuff) and a small hand brush to scrub the pad surface. Once it's clean, I rinse well and squeeze lightly to remove the majority of water and then let air dry.
 
I wash mine by hand, in the sink, with warm water and Dawn or comparable. Once all the soap is rinsed out I wring them out by hand as best I can, then spin them on the rotary. I can either reuse them right away or let them dry overnight and they're good to go.
 
i discovered a new trick to drying the pads the other day. well at least its new for me. wash by hand and take as much water out first without being too aggressive. i then used a t-shirt, folded it in half, then sandwiched the foam between the t-shirt and stepped on it. done, almost dry to the touch. u don't have to use a t-shirt btw.

Strange you should mentioned that technique as I use the same thing, but use old bath towels that my wife was going to sell in a garage sale. I also use dawn to clean my pads. In a five gallon bucket fill half full with water, then pour in the dawn and put the pads in bucket. Then use a real expensive plunger as I like the 1.95 ones to adjatate the water.

I use a bucket with Dawn and water , the rectangular one from Home Depot like the Griots one,during a full detail as well.



I like the addition of the plunger trick :D
 
Thanks Gents for all the info. I guess I'll have to pick up some Dawn. Everything else I've used has not been effective.
