Well, figured out how not to do it!
After doing some spot claying, I put the little blob of clay in the pocket of my pants, fully intending to take it out later. Wasn't a big piece, just about the size of Reese Cup.
...of course I forgot.
Went through the washer fine, seems that the dryer was where the problem occured. Little pieces of warm clay imbedded in all of my clothes! Fortunately, it was a load of darks. Also stuck all over the inside of the washer. Tried a bunch of cleaners to remove it, and ended up using Pledge (of all things) to get it out of the fabric & off the drum. Guess it was the oils in it that made it give up it's grip.
I'll be checking my pockets next time...what a mess!
