Cleaning and detailing at different locations

Hey all,



I live in an apartment complex and always wash my car at my friends house who lives approximately 1 mile away.



Is it a bad idea to wash the car at his house, then drive back to my garage at the apartment community to wax?



I want to apply s100 cleanser and s100 wax this weekend but I've always been told to not drive the car before waxing because of dust, etc.

I'm in the same position as you, but I have to use a pressure wash place (with buckets). Anyhow, when I get home I run a damp MF over the paint (IF needed), IMO I don't normally catch that much dust on the way home.

I would go over the car with a California Car Duster and then with QD.

It should be fine, just don't drive through puddles or anything. QD if necessary.

What's the purpose of the QD? To eliminate dust? It wont scratch?

Why not apply the buff the wax at your friends house before driving home. This would stop any potential issues.

Because he doesnt have any garage space available and I don't want to do it outside...

No big deal, wash at your buddies, and drive it home, inspect it before you start your detailing and remove all obvious dust issues, and stay away from water ! I would just go over it with a microfiber.....I have a problem with QD'ing before putting anything on the surface.....

FWIW I've polished and waxed outside instead of the garage with no problems. I'm just sure to do all it in the shade or early/later in the day when sun isn't as strong. I just have more room to move around freely around the car when I detail outside.

I have also polished outside for several years. I do not have a gararge but as long as your careful it is not a problem.
