Clean Dean vs. Black Pick ups...

Ford HD F-150 & Chevy PU Black

Today I had my hands full with 2 Black P/U trucks. One extended cab with a 8 foot bed (04 Chevy) and the other was a quad cab (07 Ford F-150 HD Edition). Both were washed then clayed with AM blue claybar.

Then both were buffed with Hi- Temps Heavy cut Leveler and the material was worked considerably longer on the Chevy due to some real heavy wash scratches on the vehicle. I followed with 3M Ultrafina on both finishes and both were sealed with Klasse SG.

I detailed the Harley Davidson F-150 approximately 4 months ago, and was very happy with how well the finish has held up over that time. Pretty cool 22 aftermarket wheel package on this beast !!!

very nice!! My neighbor fixed my AC unit today and he drives a Supercharged Harley F150. I'll probably do some detail work on it in exchange for him giving me back cool air in my house.

Would u suggest Menzerna Intensve Polish, Meg's 83, or 105? It has moderate swirls. I have a PC.

Great trade !!! I love these supercharged Ford trucks, and I previously owned a 01 Lightning (I miss that truck).

I'm sorry I cannot really give you too much direction with the PC. I haven't used that machine for polishing in quite a few years, but I've seen some great results with the PC here on this forum.

Any help ???

Thanks.

Great turnaround on the Chevy! That looks like an awful lot of polish on the hood. How big of a section do you work with when using that much? Could you explain your process with the Ultrafina such as what pad, speed, number of passes and applications and working time?

Process:

I use a Milwaukee 5460 Buffer with an Edge Green Foam pad with the Hi Temps HC Leveler I usually keep the buffer at (1600 to 1750 rpms). I usually polish a 3x3' section with the Hi Temps HCL and will spritz the pad with Meguiars last touch diluted 50% if the material starts to gum up. It is important to really work the HCL and it will really level out nicely if worked long enough. The finish will be ready for Ultrafina if HCL is polished out enough.

I use an Edge Blue pad and set the buffer at 1600-1750 rpms and also work the surface in 3X3' areas, and apply increasingly less pressure as I finish out the surface.

Awesome work! That F150 looks absolutely stunning. Those wheels are really sharp, but that finish is incredible. Not that it matters in the whole scheme of things, but the other truck is actually a GMC Sierra. :D

Great reflection shots on the hoods. I kep trying to focus my eyes to see what you left sitting on the hood only to realize it was actually something high above the vehicle.
