Claying Q's

I wanted to try the clay bar action on my car, but I have a question first. I've seen the great results that a clay bar can bring to a car's finish. I know washing is the first step, But before I use the clay do I need to use my prep cleaner to remove all the wax? Or does it not really matter? (I wanna get best results)

You don't really need to clean the paint first. In fact, I would suggest against it. When you are claying it is easier to have particles sticking out of your paint for the clay to grab on to. When you polish the car it is going to knock them down a bit and it may make the clay a little less effective. I would definitely suggest claying first and then polishing next. :bigups

what would you suggest i do after i clay and use wax that comes in mothers clay bar kit. i only have one of those $50 buffers for now and i want to try to get the most shine out of my white car. i have waxed cars for a long time and i havent ever really known that thter are so many steps in waxing. By the way, the clay bar did wonders.... its smoother than ever.
