Claying a sealed car (with ZCS) ?

I have just put 2xZCS on my car but now I would like to know if I can still clay it ?

If I clay, will I really clay the car paint or will I - in fact - clay the layers of ZCS ?

In addition, is it true that I need to re-seal after the paint has been clayed (supposedly to prevent oxydation or something) or some Z6 will do ?

Thank you !!!

I'm not 100% sure but I believe you would still be claying the paint because if you rub your hand over oxidized paint that was just waxed, you would still be able to feel the imperfections.

Yes you would still need to reseal it because the claybar will take off sealants and waxes.

Sort of a waste putting all that on and then going to clay it right after huh? Waxes and sealants should always be put on a car that is as smooth as glass.

I asked a similar ? of Sal 2 months ago in a telephone conversation. Does claying remove Z2 or Z5? He told me it removes SOME sealant but not all (1/5-1/3).

You may want to call him for further clarification or check his website.

If you clay you will correct your surface roughness. Even though claying will not remove all of any protectant type (wax or sealant) LSP, it is essential that you re-apply your sealant/wax. In your case it just another extra 10 mins to re-apply CS. :xyxthumbs

If you applied sealent over the paint, thier is now a barrier between the paint and the clay. For the clay to reach the paint and remove the impurites, that layer will need to be removed. Its not rocket science.

Will claying remove a sealent, depends. If you rub your clay over the sealent, you will probably remove a little. If you clay enough that you are abrading the contaminents away, then of course that barrier between the contaminet and the clay has to be removed also.
