Clay storage/longevity

All,

How long does clay last in its original plastic packaging? I've got two bars that I purchased and expect to not use in the near future. Does clay go bad or have an expiration date?

Thanks in advace.

I would think that clay wouldn’t go bad. I have used clay that I have had for a year or so with no problems, but as in most things, use common sense. If the appearance, texture, or malleability differs from when it was new, I would not use it.

I used up my last new piece of Pinnacle Yellow Poly-Clay from 2 years ago last month on my new Honda. No problemo. It sat in a wrapper and in the original jar in my dark, cool cellar. If it sat in my attic for 2 years it probably would be dried out.

if stored in an air tight wrapper/bag, clay should last for years. you might want to put the clay (with the wrapper still on) in a little ziplock bag just incase the wrapper tears when moved around. some clay bars are wrapped in the thinnest most brittle plastic.
