Clay Lubricant

Why not just use the lube that comes with ClayMagic?

If you need something readily available in large quantity, I've recently been pleased with Meguiar's Final Detail for applications like you're envisioning.

Are you actually asking this for a pro-detailing application?

The lube that came with the ClayMagic was not enough for a part time detailer like me. I'm looking for a large quantity to use for my customers.

A capful of your favorite car wash soap added to a about 1 Liter or water in a nice spray bottle provides perfect lube for any clay. It's cheap, it works and it's safe for paint.:xyxthumbs

Speking this morning with the local AutoMagic rep... She came in while I was claying an '86 Chrysler 5th Avenue...

She agreed that my method of using shampoo as a lubricant was fine. Cheaper, and much more convenient to just wash off.

Clay bars are almost magical, but the technique is not rocket science!

Another vote for car wash soap. Next time you wash your car put some in a spray bottle and there you have it, clay lubricant in a bottle.

I vote for the soapy water deal but I don't use it in a spray bottle

I just clay as I wash.

I'll wash and rinse then wash again but leave the soapy water on the car and just clay from there. Then rinse it all off. I do it panel by panel.

Soapy water here too! SOMETIMES a slick QD, but most recently I am all about a big ol' bucket of suds.

I can't find any reason to go with one over the other at this point.

I was told by my AutoMagic rep that soapy water used with Clay will break it down quicker and will soften it up. I always use Body Shine mixed 50/50.
