Clay Holding PC Pad - Opinions ????

I like things that make the job easier or do the job better - both would be nice. Griots has a PC foam pad to use with Clay, that looks like it has some potential if handled with care. Does anyone have any experience with this, or opinions, or thoughts on this?

It scares me! I like to be hands on with the clay, be able to knead it often etc. You seem to lose some of this controlw with that it seems. Clay magic has a similair attachment too. We have discussed this a few times before, and from what I remember, most people thought it was best by hand. If you run a search you could probably find those threads! :)

That just scares me to death. Why not apply everything with a PC? I may even just decide to soak down a pad with Armor All and go after the dash with it. Maybe they will make an engine cleaning attachment for the PC. Its just a bad idea. You don't want to clay your car that quickly anyway. It isn't a process that you want to speed up with a machine.

Can't see how that is going to work better than by hand. Also in the instructions they don't mention anything about kneading the clay. So are you supposed to put this clay on a pad and just run across the whole car and that's it? So if you pick up many contaminents is it possible to scratch the car? For me I like to feel the clay working to know what areas need more work and I speed through the other areas.

Beyond laziness ( not directed towards anyone) and improper technique. Claying is a straight line movement not an orbital movement. The hardest part about claying is setting aside time to do it.:wavey

Personally, I would not recommend something like that. I prefer to do my claying by hand so that I can have a greater level of control over the bar.

The opinions and thoughts on the matter seem to be unanimous, though subtle! Wonder why that doesn't surprise me.:D It seems so obvious now that it's been explained to me.:o

Thanks much.
