Clay Bar

My paint is in very good condition but I would like to clay the car for the first time.

I appears to be relatively easy to get Clearkote or Meguiars here in the UK.

Can anyone recommend an easy use product that I can try?

Thanks

Out of the claybars I've used, clay magic, autopia, mothers, meguires, and zaino, the only one I would NOT use again is the Z-18 Zaino clay, all others were good.

Interesting... Becuase the claybars that came in my Z-18 kit looked and worked EXACTLY like my autopia clay bars (even the same made in Japan printing on the plastic), just 30% more expensive. What didn't you like about the Z-18 bar?

The Z-18 bars I had weren't as soft and pliable, they cleaned well but were tough to fold over. About half way through a vehicle they would seem to break down, looked like a sponge on the outside from folding it. Sal said I may have had an old bar but that was it, the autopia clay I just got is much much softer and stayed nice and smooth after using it.

I've heard the same. I think you must have had an old bar becuase the Z-18 I got (within the last 5 months) was really soft and pliable.

Just finished my first detail with 3m clay.

Best product I used in the whole process.

Some benefits - 3m reccomend the use of car wash as a lube, you get a big 200gm bar and it's quite easy to fold over and work with. It is also rumoured to be the same as claymagic clay.

yeah Sal must have switched then, mine were bought last September. I don't think it's cool if they knew there were problems with these old bars and switched that they wouldn't at least offer a replacement or a discount on a new one.

3M is a good choice and is my fav one so far. as far as i can tell it is identical to claymagic, and i choose 3m because of its lower price.

I guess it all depends...I bought a Quick Clay directly from Meguiar's last year and it was really hard and dry; decided to try again this year but bought the Overspray Clay expecting 2 100g white bars...but I got Detailing Clay with the same P/N on the jar and one 200g blue bar, which looks just like the Claymagic. It was really expensive tho, $26. Haven't used it yet. Looks like the Perfect Shine clay at the Autopia store is a deal.
