I have a nasty bylaw that prevents me from washing cars in driveways. only water can be use and no soap of any kind may be used including biodegradable soaps.

This kinda prevents me from expanding my current operation. Do any of you have some advice or have had similar experiences that may help me get around the bylaw...min fine 500 dollars.

Thanks

Yeesh! I cannot imagine that kind of thing around here, the city would revolt! If I were you, I would see to getting that law changed.

This is one of those pay to play things. I do have a few questions for you so that I can more fully understand what the effects of the law are:
1. Can a Homeowner wash their own car in their Driveway?
2. Is it No washing at all, or is it simply no runoff into a storm sewer?
3. Can you detail in someones driveway?
4. Who got the law passed? Is it an actual City ordinance, or is it an administrative decision?
5. If you got recovery equipment, would you be able to use it?
6. Have you seen, heard or had the law enforced, in any way, or talked to a water quality inspector?

There are a lot of variables, and depending ont he answers, I might be able to give you some advice.
