Cigarette burns on exterior paint

The short of it - walk to my car early this morning on way home from g/f's place and find 3-4 cigarette butts and some ash all over my hood. :mad: :mad: I was able to brush everything off but one of the butts must have been laying on the back edge of my hood scoop and left a small burn mark/brown spot the size of half my pinky nail. got home and applied some Quik detailer and MF towel to the area but it won't come out.



does anyone know what else i could use to try to get it out? was thinking of getting a claybar after work and trying that.. else, am i gonna have to deal with it? i can't really apply touch up paint cuz the paint isn't etched in, merely appears "discolored" with cigarette tar. also, it does feel a tiny, tiny bit rough.
 
I'd try either the claybar or bug/tar remover. I doubt it's etched so much as just stuck to the paint pretty good.

A quick wipe with stoner tarminator would have the same thing acomplished with alot less effort, IMO. I'd also doubt if the IPA would stay on there for a few minutes -- might evaporate before that long.
 
How about shooting the smokers that did it? Seriously though, if the paint just got really hot there and scorched is there any remedy for that?
 
yea, i haven't stared at it forever but it kinda looks scorched.. i will try the clay and stoner's stuf, maybe even Meg #9 if i have to.. and see what happens.
 
welp.. here's the order i tried.. if one didn't work, i went to the next - basically going up in abrasiveness:



Clay Magic claybar -> Megs #9 -> Megs ScratchX



i was able to reduce the discoloration somewhat, it doesn't look as bad as before. there is just a bit left. if y'all suggest something else, i'll try it - was thinking 3M Fine Cut Polishing Compound? or maybe go even harder with a Rubbing compound?



i really hope the paint isn't permanently burned :(

Try Scratch Xagain it can take a few applications to do its magic.



I had a white Mustang that someone left a cigarette but on and it browned the paint nothing would touch that, alittle wet sanding helped it. Somethings you can only reduce, sucks about being daily drivers:(
