Yo guys, i have a detail job for semi's. yes semi's. the guy just wants the tanks and wheels polished. so i am here asking for your opinions. what or who has the best chrome polish. maybe something that is available at murrays for now. i have the job on monday and have no time to order stuff from the net. thanks in advance,

Meh, all chrome polishes seem to do something. I had some mothers stuff that I used to use on my wheels that I stopped using cause they were always clean, and didn't attract break dust. Then I tried it on out boat, and WOW it took the rust off the old curoded things off in a jiffy.
 
I second the Mothers chrome polish.

Do you have any idea how bad the chrome is?

Do a search for flitz. I think that some members have had good luck using it on chrome.
 
the guys said that the chrome is perfect. it is going to be washed and acetoned before i get it. no rust and it is not pitted. thank god.

If you're referring to the saddle fuel tanks and the wheels, they aren't chrome - they're aluminum.



I'd suggest an aluminum polish. On the tanks, a terry cloth bonnet or 2 with an inexpensive RO buffer works well. They're big with slow curves to them, so you can get good coverage quickly.



I can't recall ever seeing a class 8 tractor with chrome tanks or wheels. They're always aluminum. I understand some wheel manufacturers (Budd or Alcoa, can't remember which) clear coat some wheels, so make sure they are non-coated aluminum before using the aluminum polish.
 
the gentleman told me that they were chrome. i too thought damn that's alot of chrome on all those trucks. if they do turn out to be aluminum that just find a metal polish ??
 
just checked mothers website. they have both aluminum and chrome polishes. but i think i'll have to use good ole elbow grease with the aluminum polish since it is a paste. damn i wanted to use the pc :rolleyes:
