hey group have a slight problem. I own a 2000 bmw 323ci and had it detailed. Iam still having problems getting what appears to be water spots off my side windows and crome trim. I have used everything even compunds with a high speed buffer, any ideas ?????????

Chef, I've moved this thread from the Intoduce Yourself forum thinking you'll get more responses over here. I've had pretty good luck getting nasty water spots off of windows using AutoGlym's Car Glass Polish and a PC with a 4" pad. I can't remember exactly where I picked this kit up but it was offered as a complete kit. I've been happy with it. When all else fails I've cleaned chrome up with #0000 steel wool. I wouldn't recommend any steel wool more aggresive than this.

Maybe a water and vinegar mixture?? Apply it with a MF towel and allow the mixture to dwell for a few seconds. It has worked for me before in removing stubborn water spots.

thanks guy the ideas are great, unfortuanatlly I have tryed the h2o with vinager no luck....... If I use the steel wool do I have to buff it with a mild compound or just polish and wax? all info is great.

I've used the #0000 steel wool with both chrome polish and also had success with a little 7-UP soda. Don't ask me where I came across this but it works.

BarKeepers Friend has always been what I goto to remove water spots off glass. It's easy to use by hand.

My technique is either use it while washing (rinse VERY well) or put a small amount on a damp microfiber applicator, just enough to apply, but doesn't get everywhere. Wipe off excess then clean with glass cleaner.

My problem is, I have very hard water and no matter when or where I dry my windows always get F*&%$# up. Therefore I have to do my windows last after everything has been dried.

Sounds like a pain, but I can't seem to keep my windows from getting spots no matter what soap I use. My water just sucks.

hey I feel your pain, I live in florida and at our complex they use recycled water to do the plants and grass. Unfortunatly it gets all over my windows and it is a pain to remove, due to the fact it bakes on during the day. Were do you buy the bartenders friend product.

Good recommendation! That stuff works really well! I've also had good luck on windows with Bon Ami's mildest powdered cleaner (make sure it's the mildest)... wet the window down, put some Bon Ami a "dedicated mitt", scrub the window and rinse thoroughly.

I'm not even sure that Bon Ami makes the really mild stuff anymore. I've had 2 cans for years and years.

You can buy barkeepers friend in the cleaning isle at about any store. I think I got mine at Walmart. Near the comet or brass cleaner.
