Chrome scratches

Is there any hope for removing (or minimizing) very slight hairline scratches in show chrome? They're so slight it takes looking at a certain angle to see them, but I know they're there..and they're bugging the heck out of me! :nervous2:

Thanks for all input!

(If there's already a thread on this subject, I apologize...please direct me to it)

You need a dremel, cotton polishing wheel, and jeweler's rouge. You can buff the scratches out with this combo.

Thanks for the feedback! I feel a little better now knowing there's hope.

A friend of mine also suggested trying metal polish + 0000 steel wool lightly on the area? Not sure about that one! I'm concerned about rubbing through the plating and ending up making it look worse than it is, bringing even more attention to it! :cooleek:.

I like your jeweler's rouge and cotton wheel idea better.

It's not a part that easily (or cheaply) replaced or I'd just swap it out for a new chrome piece.

Thanks again for your help!

Yeah no prob. I definately would not use steel wool and chrome polish, you will end up with more scratches that you started with. I like to use Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish for protection, or you can get Wheel Wax. Definately protect it after your finished.
