chrome plating silver wheels

I've got a friend that is looking for some new wheels because they want chrome ones. They like their current rims, except for the silver finish. Considering they only want to change the finish color would it be cost effective to have the current rims chrome plated?

Depending on local costs, chrome plating a wheel runs $100-200 per wheel. So, yes, it is more cost effective to plate existing wheels than it is to replace/upgrade. Have your friend call local platers or search online for platers who ship nationwide.

Chrome plating wheels around here runs $200 a rim. Personally, I'd never get chrome wheels. Pretty much every set I have seen, the chrome begins to deteriorate within a couple of years.

Do you think there would be a difference in durability for him getting brand new chrome wheels vs getting his current wheels chrome plated?
