Christmas Marketing Scheme....

Just curious if anyone has ever tried to market their services as a Christmas present. By which I mean, "sell" yourself to your existing customers, by having them buy a detail for one of their family or friends as a Christmas gift. It seems to me, that this could be a pretty decent idea for picking up new business, and making your customers even happier by simplifying their Christmas shopping at the same time. I can hear the pitch now... "Have someone impossible to shop for?...You know, that guy that has everything....If he's already got all the toys, why not let me clean them all for him?" :LOLOL

I don't much dabble into detailing for money just yet, but this just popped into my head yesterday when I told my sister-in-law I'd detail her new-to-her 2004 Cavalier as her Christmas present, because its in kind of rough shape paintwise.

Same here. Oddly though, it seems that Father's Day is a popular detailing gift certificate holiday.

I can believe that...it seems that many people are into having people "open gifts" for Christmas. They don't like to give money or gifts because there's really nothing to unwrap. Plus, they don't have to buy dad another tie if they're buying your services :bigups

Even bigger plus-Dad is spending time with the family instead of cleaning his car. :)

I already have 4 details lined up as Christmas gifts! Great way to make customers feel happy about giving something that most everyone wants. A clean new looking car!

i've got some lined up for the holidays as xmas gifts. A friend of mine wnats to buy it for her family members. Then also get requests for it as b-day gifts and such. I don't market for it... but people already think of it.

Actually, I do the complete opposite during the holidays.

I never offer any type of solicitation during this time of year. Of course my customers already know that we have gift certificates available, so all I basically do is mail out my holiday greetings and new year calenders.

I would never think of doing anything that would indicate that I am trying to drum up new business. I would much rather stand apart from all of the commercializing this time of year.
