Christmas List

Okay here's the deal. Christmas time is a month away and my mom wants me to go ahead and get a list togeather. So naturally, I went to www.autopia-carcare.com and started searching around because I have been waiting for this a long time and never figured out what all I wanted. My main concern is my black 2004 with 2500 miles on it Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. Nice car that runs good and is pretty quick for an econobox but it also came with the factory paintswirls(I think also known as rotary holograms). My first concern is getting those out. My current list of supplies that i already own are Megs 9, 7, 26, QD. Mothers B2B. And thats pretty much it besides the basic other washes and wheel cleaner junk. This paintjob is known for its very poor quality so I am trying to remove it with as much ease as possible and I am not sure what I should go to after the number 9 which I am assuming won't work because I have never really tried it to remove swirls yet since I don't have the PC but anyway heres the list.

Porter Cable With Sonus Kit

Megs #83 DAPC (Think this might be to abrasive but good to have around just in case I detail someones car in need)

Klasse AIO

Pinnacle Souveran Carnuba Wax (thats right MMMMmmm)

Sonus Der Wonder drying towels (Set of 2)

Sonus Der Wunder Wasche

Extra Green and Orange pad

That so far is my list but I think I am deperately in need of something in between #9 and #83 but I do not see anything on the autopia site on the Meguiars lineup and I am not sure as of what products fall in the abrasiveness between the two. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just trying not to rip off my clearcoat:) .

DACP is not as abrasive as you think. I would not be suprised if you needed multiple passes with this stuff to remove the swirls that came with the car.

How many MFs do you recommend? I was thinking of this:

Pack of 6 Khaki MF

Purple Passion Drying MF

MF Applicators

Should I get another set?

David has just released SONUS polishes in three abrasive levels. And matching pads. He says a kit that includes all three polishes and pads should be out around the 15th. Those products may be worth looking at if you aren't deadset on Meguiar's.

Before going straight to DACP, how's about trying out just #80? Then go for DACP if that doesn't work. Start with the least abrasive method first.

You'll most likely find that the green pad will be your workhorse. Save the orange for bad sections, and the blue for AIO. You can use DACP on both orange and green depending on how bad the swirls are. So, yea, maybe two extra green pads instead of 1 each green & orange. Or a green & a blue?

You can never have enough MF's! ;) Check out the green polishing cloths for $1.85 each at www.wcdetail.com. I bought 10 of them when they were first introduced and I'm very happy with the quality. A 10 pack of those and the stuff you're planning on getting from Autopia would give you a good start. He's an Autopia sponsor, too.

I'd drive my mom in to bankruptcy if she asked me to make up a list from detailing sites ;)
