Christmas gift suggestions

Hi All,

Just wanted your suggestions on what to give to someone for Christmas who is not into detailing. This person simply wants to clean the car once in a while.

He doesn't want to use automatic car washes anymore so just to get him started.

Let's keep the suggestions around the $20-$30 range please.

And he can't afford to have it done professionally.

Think of this as a bare-bones kit.

Thanks.

Meguiar's usually comes out with a kit around Christmas time, it's usually an assortment of OTC stuff.

in addition to the megs gift set... there's this kit by CG's, but cost twice as much ($69+ free shipping)... but there's a good amount of products...

yeah I have seen the Meguiars quits at Wal-Mart and the Autozone and they are very reasonably priced. I got one last year that cost $40, came with a GC wash, GC liquid wax, some brushes, a plush MF, and some QD. Very good deal!

I think the best thing you can get for someone who is not a pro would be 2x 5 gallon buckets, 1 or 2 LW was mits, pack of MF towels, WW drying towels and a bottle of hi quality car wash. If you have some $$ left over get some Stoners Glass Cleaner and some bug and tar remover and Colonite 845IW. If you sill have a few bucks left over get some paint prep. i have used several andf the cheapest one that works is mothers oxidation and swirl remover. i think its Mothers #2.

And most importantly, give him a check list on how to wash the car. Give him the basics on how to wash and dry. It will be the most valuable part of the gift.

I recall the wal-mart meg's kit, which had an incredible assortment of products...basically for $25 you get about 60 bucks worth of stuff, incl wash, nxt wax, uqd, interior detailer and other goodies. great starter kit for a newbie

optimum has a tiny 20 dollar kit with some excellent products - wash, wax, OPP, tire shine and a mf towel. Problem w/ that is 1 wash and its all used up. Meg's kit is a much better deal as this one is a teaser.

The kit from megs this year isnt near as good as last years but its still 'ok.'

Get him ^that, a bucket, some GC wash(from walmart), good mitt, maybe some good MF's+applicators, and call it a gift. :)

Thanks all for your suggestions.

After explaining proper processes from what I've learned here and how much money I spent on my own products, he was scared-off. I decided to wash his car for him once in a while.

Bought him a detailer spray and microfiber towels for the bird bombs and will bring some of my stuff whenever I get a chance to wash the car.

Still, thnx for the suggestions, excellent gift ideas for Secret Santa events :)
